Roles: Creative Direction, 3D Modelling, Animation, Logo Design, Manual & Package Design

First, we had to build the custom Lego, then experiment with various different mediums, from illustrations to photography, 3D was the way to go.

Lego Box: The Yellow Version

Each piece of the custom Mac 128k Lego was recreated in 3D and then put all together. With the correct material, texture and color, various 3D renders were made, first I experimented with Lego yellow, it was well received.

In order to make the box art and presentation authentic, the CIO wordmark had to be recreated in Lego design language.

The 3d models were rendered, then merged together with 2d vectors to create a die cut for the box printing.

I had to change his hair color, this was the first iteration of the Lego box in 3D before hitting the print shop.

Based on the original Apple’s smile clipart from 80s/90s. I illustrated every angle of the original 128k Macintosh in 8-bit graphic style, including the bottom.

Unused variations.

He ultimately picked the yellow, until I showed him the black and white version of the box art.
